A benedictory message from Dr. Vivekananda Chakraborty, National Awardee Head Master (Midnapore Town School) and Rabindra Researcher, 27 th January : Souhardya, a student of class-XI at Vidyasagar Shishu Niketan receives ‘Pradhan Mantri Rashtriya Bal Puraskar 2021’ on the eve of Republic Day. He is the one from West Bengal and among the 32 students, selected from all over India for this National Award. He is An Indo-Anglian writer and a celebrated one among the 21st century columnists. His creative world encompasses historical fiction and mythology. Surprisingly he aims at reviving Indian heritage and culture though he is born in a spell of westernised culture prevailing in the contemporary society. At the age of 16 Souhardya has been a Fellow of the Royal Asiatic Society of Great Britain and Ireland.
He has been contributing articles in The Sunday Guardian, The Citizen, WION, The Statesman, Thrive Global, Scroll Media, The Standard, TOI Blogs, The Hills Times and other national and international journals. Souhardya, a wonder youth, has spurred the society with his unending zeal, profound insight and exquisite vision. He is carrying a rich ancestry of his grand father Biswanath De, a retired Professor in History, his father Shakti Prasad De, an Assistant Professor in History and his mother a school teacher. The soil of Midnapore has been yielding with the birth of Pundit Ishwar Chandra Vidyasagar and with the advent of luminary like Rishi Rajnarayan Basu and others. Souhardya is their worthy successor.
